The CYC Outdoor Activities program is designed to provide youth with a rare opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors and all its benefits. The CYC aspires to give kids an appreciation for nature and teach them the importance of its conservation and further preservation. The CYC staff is able to accomplish these goals with the use of Rancho Esquon, the 'Flying A' Boat, Grizzly Island Property, Camp Concord and Camp Nejedly. All of these locations and entities are available to give boys and girls a natural environment in which to explore and learn. More >

June 2010

First, I want to say that kids are continually improving their outdoor skills with every single exposure. On June 5 eleven CYC members attended a Grizzly Island Suisun Marsh field day. Davino and Rocco Lucido as well as Amelia and Annalise Bascom entered the Duck Calling competition. I am extremely happy to announce that Rocco is now the Suisun Marsh field day champion. As first place winner he took home some hunting gear. He competed against 15 other youth in his age group, 12-16. All students took part in the archery, duck calling, educational activities and hunting displays.

On June 24 we had the first of three duck releases at Grizzly Ranch. Campers from summer camps will be participating in duck releases as well as attending the regular CWA educational program. Wetland marsh conservationist Loretta Grader from the Rancho Esquon waterfowl hatchery has transported ducklings and a few goslings for release.

Next month there will be two duck releases, July 1 and 8, and there will be a CWA shooting clinic on July 10. Also, there are two exciting camps coming: Camp Concord is

Outdoor Activities Student of the Month is Kemberly Lopez. She is an active member in the program, and she demonstrates excitement about all coming events and activities, including the duck calling.
