The CYC Outdoor Activities program is designed to provide youth with a rare opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors and all its benefits. The CYC aspires to give kids an appreciation for nature and teach them the importance of its conservation and further preservation. The CYC staff is able to accomplish these goals with the use of Rancho Esquon, the 'Flying A' Boat, Grizzly Island Property, Camp Concord and Camp Nejedly. All of these locations and entities are available to give boys and girls a natural environment in which to explore and learn. More >

March 2010

So far the Flying “A” has been a blast for members. We had three trips in February; CYC members filling the decks. There was a little rain each day, but the kids toughed it out. They learned many skills; for example, reeling, setting a hook, casting and bating a fish hook with live bait. They bagged several big fish and little fish. With opportunity and experience more CYC youth now know how to walk the decks of a ship on water. For many students, this was their first trip on a boat; we only had four repeat CYC members last month. They were extremely helpful with assisting the new comers learn fishing and boat safety. Some experienced a boating safety class given by Flying “A” captain Brian Collier. They were able to see how a 50 foot boat navigates in the San Francisco Bay.
Coming next month is a Rancho Esquon weekend trip to learn about the Wood Duck, a Flying “A” wrestling team fishing trip and a Grizzly Ranch outdoor education trip. CWA Grizzly Ranch and Rancho Esquon educational trips will soon start again along with CWA shooting clinics at Grizzly Ranch.
