The CYC cheerleading program is designed to teach girls of all ages about the sport of cheerleading. Not only does this program offer the girls training in tumbling, stunting, motions, and jumps, but it also provides the girls with values to use for life. Becoming a part of a cheerleading team teaches the girls about teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, desire, leadership, time management, etc. Because this program requires the girls to spend a lot of time together and to rely on each other, this program also places a great emphasis on friendship, trust, and fun. June 2011

Having completed the 2010-2011 season, the Cheerleading Program is now preparing for the upcoming year. All teams are getting ready for new skills. Tryouts for the competition teams are on July 23. We are looking forward to seeing many new faces along with our loyal returning cheerleaders. If you have any questions about tryouts, please contact Head Coach Nicolle Tissot. We are happy to welcome new athletes as we have spaces available at all levels.
We are also excited about upcoming cheer camps. The first camp runs June 13-17, and the second camp runs June 26 to July 1. Cheerleaders will be learning a dance and a cheer, along with instruction in both stunting and tumbling. These camps are full of fun activities and are often a great learning experience for both new and returning athletes. Cheerleaders will be able to participate in various arts and crafts activities, each one being a memento for the athletes to take home. As an added bonus, coaches will be handing out ribbons to each athlete signifying their hard work throughout the day. There is space available and you can sign up now.
If you would like to join in one of our new programs or practice with one of the competitive teams, please consult the cheer staff, and contact Nicole immediately if you want to participate over summer.
Recreational cheer has also been busy, and the beginning cheerleaders are fantastic to work with. They are gaining skills and are exciting to watch. Intermediate classes are getting larger, and their focus is developing. Thank you to all who have contributed to our program, and have a great summer.
Cheerleading Student of the Month is Monserat Lopez. She has been working consistently since the end of last season, and her flying has never looked better. Her attitude is always positive and enjoyable, and we are glad to have her lovely personality and impeccable skills as a part of the program. |
