| The CYC boxing program is the cornerstone and oldest program at the Center. Over
the years, the CYC has produced some outstanding boxers and continues to do so today.
But more importantly, the boxing program has taught and developed core values in
young boys and girls that will help them in all areas of their lives. The coaching
staff proudly teaches the values of respect, camaraderie, tenacity, sportsmanship,
honor, and especially the three D's of
the CYC: Discipline, Dedication, and Desire. More > |

July 2010
June was a very productive and busy month for the Boxing Program. We started the month off with the Scott’s Boxing event at the Blackhawk Auto Museum on June 2. The show was a great success, and all CYC athletes that participated went undefeated. All of the bouts on the card were exciting to watch. Daniel Thomas had a bout the following night at the Polk Street Boxing Gym in San Francisco. Daniel beat Ariel Jacobs from the Old School Boxing Gym in a decision. The team competed at the Santa Rosa boxing show on Saturday, June 19. Jose Delgado increased his record to 4-0, defeating Irvin Altolusco. Eric Altamirano won the main event on a 5-0 decision against Bertin Santiago from Double Punches in Santa Rosa. Christal Barajas traveled to Camp Le June, NC to participate in the United States Junior Olympic Girls Nationals June 13-19.
Christal Barajas is June Boxing Student of the Month for doing an outstanding job taking home the bronze medal at nationals. |
