The CYC is designed to attract youth and offer them a place to learn and train in athletics. Once involved in the CYC's various athletic programs, we help the students balance their educational and sport activities by providing an environment suitable for educational activities. The CYC staff stresses the importance of education on a consistent, supportive and daily basis. More >

July 2010

The Academic Excellence Program is rocking! Year to date, AE attendance is up over 20%, and in May the program was up a whopping 49% over last year. School is out now and things have quieted down in the AE room where rooms have been combined for the summer. But it will be busy again as soon as AE summer camps get started.

The week of June 28 is Animal Camp, and the week of July 5 is Culture Camp, which includes a trip to the Asian Art Museum and learning about delicious food from all around the world. Both of these camps have multiple exciting field trips! The week of August 2 will be Leadership Camp, designed for older students. We will offer CPR and First Aid training as well as life skills and resume writing. Plus, we will be taking a field trip to tour two colleges: UC Berkeley and DVC. Space is limited, so sign up today!

Also, we have a special opportunity for AE campers! Any camper who refers a friend who then registers for any of our three AE camps gets two free movie tickets. So

The Academic Excellence Student of the Month for July is Jake Serpa. An eighth grade student, Jake came everyday for weeks to prepare for his math final and ended up getting an A on it! Congratulations on your hard work Jake. It paid off big!
