The CYC is designed to attract youth and offer them a place to learn and train in athletics. Once involved in the CYC's various athletic programs, we help the students balance their educational and sport activities by providing an environment suitable for educational activities. The CYC staff stresses the importance of education on a consistent, supportive and daily basis. More >
March 2010
Academic Excellence had a great February! A big hug and thank you from Mrs. Jansen to all who participated in the surprise birthday party. What a party! And the handmade valentines were terrific.
We received four new computers in the big AE room this month, thanks to the generosity of De La Salle High School. We now have 11 computers in the room. Almost every night each computer is in use as our attendance is up 18% over last year. And in the little AE room we have been working hard. Busy days and tons of big projects have been coming around. Numerous youth have completed Science Fair Projects in the past month, and we are very proud of the effort and success of our young students.
Upcoming Events: We are offering a Kaplan SAT review course in the big AE room starting in March. The cost is $369 per student. See us in the AE room or go to the front desk to sign up. Summer is just around the corner and we are already planning our AE summer camps. They are going to be unique and adventurous! Watch for our flyers and emails, and sign up early for plenty of fun and some great learning oppurtunities this summer.
Academic Excellence Student of the Month is Earl Coats. Earl is a freshman at De La Salle High School and has been a part of the AE program since September. He is dedicated and hard working. Congratulations, Earl!
