Back to The Big C and Back to School Days |
The lazy days of summer are almost behind us, and at both The Big C and Community Youth Center, September signifies a fresh, clean start. A refurbished building, excited young minds, cooler weather and fall colors -- all represent “Back to The Big C” and “Back to School” days.
As you stroll through The Big C and marvel at all the updates and positive changes, kids will be doing the same as they sit in their school classroom and meet their teacher for the first time, or, as they start a new sports program at the CYC. You both share that same excited feeling in your stomach. Treasure it!
Looking back, summer at the CYC was also a treasure. The Center hosted 23 weekly camps, with more than 335 kids participating throughout the summer – and many coming to multiple camps.
One young camper, Madison Cantrell, an 8-year-old from Pleasant Hill, discovered the CYC for the first time. She proceeded to come to a camp every single week. From taekwondo to boxing to gymnastics to several weekly activity camps, she experienced it all. And the best thing is Madison and her younger brother, Hunter are now CYC members. Madison took a liking to boxing and is enrolled in Coach Sullenger’s class.
“I like everything about the summer camps at CYC,” said Madison. “They were just fun and we did a lot of neat stuff in the camps. I can’t wait to go to boxing class.”
So, as you jump back on the bike or treadmill or enjoy a tennis match, think of that feeling of a fresh, clean start. That’s September at The Big C and CYC! |
