CYC Springs Forward |
April 2007 - Bustling activity, feelings of accomplishment and much pride have shined on the youth of the Community Youth Center during the first days of spring.
The CYC cheerleaders grabbed a national championship while three young rhythmic gymnasts captured state titles. The taekwondo program proudly hosted its first tournament in a gorgeous new facility, wrestlers competed across California, and boxers battled at the Golden Gloves. A small group explored the outdoors and pitched in to work with the wildlife at Rancho Esquon, young preschool gymnasts tumbled in the morning hours, and the academic excellence center continued to provide a quiet place to pursue daily homework.
There will be no slowing down in April as CYC’s dancers will proudly show their steps to groups at the YMCA, Concord Library and on April 20 at the Big C! Our boxers will host the Junior Olympics on April 14-15 and wrestlers will compete at two state championships (Greco Roman and Junior Freestyle). We will also be actively involved promoting youth health and fitness at the Richmond Exercise Clinic, Concord Youth Sports Fair, and the Concord Healthy Field Day and Food Olympics.
In addition, mark your calendars for two major events in May at CYC – the Seventh Annual Live Amateur Boxing Show (May 23) and Greco World Duals (May 25-27). If that’s not enough, remember that hundreds of classes will go on as usual -- if there ever is such a thing as usual at the dynamic CYC!
As always, we encourage you to cross the street and visit CYC. A special thanks to those who are contributing to the CYC Annual Giving campaign. All this wouldn’t happen without your support. If you have any questions, please contact Julie Marvel at (925) 761-7070, ext. 215. |
