Did you know this about Katrena Cohea?

Katrena became a full-time head coach of the CYC Dance Program in November after joining the organization in early 2006. She has more than 15 years of dance experience, five years teaching at various Bay Area schools.

Trained in the Royal Academy of Dance style, Katrena passed her Advanced Foundation Exam, making her a member of the Academy.

Besides teaching at CYC, Katrena continues her dance studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance and performs with them regularly. She is also a trained Spanish and Flamenco dancer and has performed with Carolina Lugo’s Brisas de Espana, a local Flamenco and Spanish dance company.

Two of her dreams are to “someday dance in a company” and to “save enough money to go to Spain to study Flamenco.”

Dancer teacher by day -- massage therapist on weekends. Katrena also works at The Spa at Benicia Health & Fitness.

The CYC Dance Program continues to grow as there was a standing-room crowd (more than 250 guests) at its First Annual Production of The Nutcracker in December.

For more information about the CYC Dance Program, you can contact Katrena Cohea at (925) 671-7070.
