“The CYC is an exceptional
place for kids to go after school. It typifies fun, discipline and structure. I’m
proud to be involved with the CYC.”
- Mr. “C” From Heaven (Howard Cosell impersonator who assists
at fundraisers and boxing events) |
<.“At CYC we
have many good kids who are working toward becoming the kind of citizens that
you want. They
are good role models….The CYC and the Hofmann Foundation have been so
supportive of these kids. I have been given everything as a coach to help
these kids grow and see the world.”
- Gary Sullenger, CYC Head Boxing Coach |
“CYC is a place where the child
is more important than the bottom line. It is always what is best for the
child, how can we help this child? Not, can we afford to do this? To
use sports to help children grow into responsible mature adults. CYC is the perfect
place to coach children.”
- Mike Guzman, CYC Head Gymnastics Coach |
“I think of the CYC like
a garden, and myself like a gardener. In a garden you have different
plants, with different needs, so if a plant needs a lot of sun you plant it
in a sunny area. Other plants wither with too much sun, so you have to plant
them in the shade. Kids have different needs, and you have to talk to them
and teach them according to their nature. Also, in a garden, different
plants have value of different kinds. Some produce healthy vegetables, others
give shade, others produce beautiful flowers and scents. Kids also have
different natural talents, and I try to make the Taekwondo program broad enough
so they can all find a way to develop themselves fully, as unique individuals.”
- Ed Austin, CYC Head Taekwondo Coach |
